COMBAT's Spec CR-1 drops are small-batch runs of the brand's revived single-piece-style composite, sold through themed limited releases. With a moderate load behind the 12.75" barrel, the swing weight sits in the useful middle: more exit speed than a balanced build, less timing cost than a maxload. It serves the broad middle of hitters well: enough barrel to do damage on a flush swing, enough control to survive a late one. Few players will feel mismatched to it. The main caution is the standard composite one: it needs its break-in swings before peak response arrives, and it should be kept out of cold-weather batting practice. Cold weather is a real factor: composite response drops noticeably below roughly 60°F, and thin-walled barrels crack more easily in the cold. Keep it indoors before early-spring games and use a beater bat for cold cage work. A moderate break-in gets it to peak; it will play close to its best within the first few sessions.
