The Vanilla Gorilla is one of the more demanding bats in the DeMarini slowpitch lineup. Heavy end load in a stiff 12.5" two-piece design means the barrel weight is real and the contact window is honest — this is not a bat that forgives late timing or a swing that drifts off the screws. Hitters who commit through the zone with controlled aggression get hard, authoritative contact. Everyone else leaves performance on the table. The two-piece construction adds some whip that helps the loaded barrel accelerate, but the stiffness in the connection keeps it from going fully soft. The feedback is clear enough that you know exactly what you hit. The mid-range forgiveness rating means it's not punishing the way a max-load pencil barrel would be, but it's not handing out charity either. Break-in is moderate — give it a proper warm-up period before expecting peak performance. Once the barrel opens up, the exit velocity on clean contact is noticeably better than early sessions. For USSSA power hitters who have the mechanics to stay through a heavy barrel, the Vanilla Gorilla delivers real results. For hitters still building consistency, a more forgiving option might serve better.
